Passing the Buck

Don't you hate the "pass the buck" mentality? I can't understand why people think that it let's them off the hook when they try to pin their inadequacies on someone else. Famous last words, "that's not my job, xyz, is in charge of that". Knowing full well that someone told you that they were in charge of it and that's the only reason why you came to them in the first place. I don't know, maybe it's just me.

When I am in charge of something, I try to make sure all t's are crossed and all i's dotted. And I definitely have broad enough shoulders to take the heat if I mess up. I guess I am a relic in these days and times. Some wise women told me this once, around Fall 1991........
"Excuses are monuments of nothingness, those who use them seldom accomplish anything."

Married with Kids

So, I'm working full time, going to graduate school, my husband's in grad school, and we have 3 kids all under the age of 10. Now, as you can figure, my spare time is ZERO. But for all of you busy mom's I have found a little nugget to share that may help some with being all things to everyone in your home. I don't remember how I ending up doing this, but it is definitely a great idea. I took one of my daughter's favorite storybooks and recorded myself reading it. When she wants me to read her a story and she sees me busy, she'll just go get her portable cd player w/headphones and listen to me read her story. I plan on recording several more, but I know you can buy books on tape. However, nothing beats mommy reading the story! My daughter absolutely loves it!

All you need is a cheap microphone to plug into your computer and you can record it on any music player that you use. I happened to use the media software that came with my Creative Zen player. I did a cd, but you could do a cassette if that's easier for you. It was so worth my time.

Good Stuff

Okay, so I am seriously a beauty product junkie. So much so that, when I run out of any type of facial product all I have to do is pull another from my cabinet. That's what happened a few days ago. I ran out of my liquid eye makeup remover. I decided to bust out these cleansing cloths that I had bought on clearance from Tarjay. OMG....those cloths are the bombay. I used it on my whole face and was amazed at how clean my face felt. Some removers leave kind of like a film on your face, but this one cleaned like soap and water. It was so refreshing. It has a smooth side and an exfoliating side. The product is Pond's Exfoliating Clean Sweep-Cucumber Cleansing Towelettes. These things are a must for this summer, when you can't get to a sink but you want to clean your face. And for the gym? These things would be a lifesaver for when you plan on showering when you get home, but just want to clean your face. I got mine in a double pack for $3 on clearance. Check'em out if you get a chance!

CC:'ing

Don't you hate it when someone emails you and then cc:'s the whole world? I'm like if you wanted to ask other people, just go ahead and ask them instead of me. Leave me out of it. Maybe that's just me. Not to mention all of the bcc:'ing I'm sure that goes on. Can we all just say what we need to say respectfully to whomever we need to say it to? It really could cut down on the drama.

What It Do

What do you call it when you have tons to do and you continue to add more things to your list? A glutton for punishment? With all of the things I have going on, I am working on a business venture that I hope to start soon. It's exciting, but I just hope I'm not getting in over my head. This evening I only saw my little one for 10 minutes tops, before it was time to put her to bed. Not a good look for me.

Weird Dream

Have you ever had one of those dreams that wake you up because they are so disturbing? I had a dream last night about 2 of my co-workers that put me on the look out for them. One of these chicks I already dealt with a "long-handled" spoon, but the other one, I'm really cool with. The dream made me feel as though I really need to pull back with these chicks when I get back to work. I don't know, but I woke up feeling like I had been given a warning to guard my feelings with them. After I was fully awake, I started thinking of 2 other instances where I thought "we were cool" and I ended up the last one to know about some pertinent information with co-workers at other jobs. Hmmph..... I think I'll take the cautious route on this one. I'ma keep my eyes on these two just on GP.

Office Bully

Today, I read an article about "office bullies". It was really something that I couldn't understand. They talked about the boss bullying subordinates, which I could kinda understand, since they could potentially fire you. But I really don't understand bullying in grown ups. *i hope it's not cause i'm the bully* Anywho, I can't see why as a grown up that you couldn't say whatever you needed to say to another grown up. I think some people may get bullied because they allow themselves to get bullied. Bullies usually prey on people that they know won't stand up to them. If they misjudge and step to someone who gets with them, they usually go find another target. Relating back to my previous post, everybody needs to say what they need to say to whoever they need to say it to. It doesn't have to be confrontational, just because you let someone know what's up. Actually, I would prefer a person to come to me and speak on it if they feel I have done something wrong or inappropriate. It cuts out the middle man and kills the gossip. What do you think?

Passive-Agressive

So, stuff is still crazy at work. Along with the hat.ers we have these passive-aggressive tendencies going on. (Katt Wms has another name for it) For instance, I printed something on a local printer accidently that should have been sent to the main printer. I get to work the next day and someone had written a note on the printout saying "this large document should have been sent to the main printer, it has used alot of our ink", without a signature. Ain't that a blip? You big and bad enough to try to get me told, but then you punk out and don't sign your name so I can get with you????? Don't be all mr. get bad and then want to be anonymous!!! Oh and then, I had someone to come to me "speaking on the behalf of others" to say that someone had a problem with my schedule. I told the spokesperson to tell "others" that if there was a problem with my schedule, what did they think the solution should be? The reply was, "oh, i'm just the messenger". People are so funny. You can best believe that when I'm being Ms. Get-Bad, I want you to know it's me doing it.

They betta be glad it ain't 1992 in this piece, I woulda been chin checkin' everyone up in my area. *shoving can of w.a. in pocket*

Mr. O.bama

On Wednesday, I got the unexpected treat of getting VIP seating to a B.arack Ob.ama Rally. I was close enough to touch him and the event was quite inspiring. There were people there cheering for him from all walks of life. It was a wonderful feeling seeing all of the support he has. He took questions from the audience and had very good answers. He is quite tall and way more handsome than he seems on television. His se.cret ser.vice detail was super duper tight. They were shielding the brother with their bodies 2 circles deep. I got the distinct feeling that I was arms length away from America's next President. It gave me goosebumps! This is history in the making. Remember to vote on Tuesday if you haven't already and Texas peeps make sure you come back to caucus at 7pm.

Work Ish

Why must women be so catty at work? Sometimes, I feel like I'm in 8th grade all over again!!! Everyone makes it their business to make sure no one else is slacking. EVEN WHEN THEY ARE THE ONE SLACKING!!!! I have gotten to the point where I just close my door and ignore all the madness. Then there's the crabs in the barrel syndrome. And not all crabs are black!!! These chicks at my job want to make sure you are not getting anymore power or position than they have. My questions is, "Is it taking any money out of your check?" Why does it matter what I'm doing???? I thought by 30-something we would be over this. But as Katt Williams says, the haters got to do they job, so just let them do what they do. I plan on adding another 2o by the summer!!! *two fingaz*

Little Kids are Funny

Okay, so I went to the daycare to pick up M3 the other day and ended up getting violated by a 1 year old. This particular day I had on a pair of low rise slacks from Old Navy. Well, as I bent down to scoop up my 1 year old, I felt a slight draft behind me. I knew what was exposed, but no one was behind me, so I felt like it would be okay until I finished greeting M3. Unbeknowst to me, one of M3's classmates had went around behind me. This kid proceeded to stick her index finger down my crack. *faint* I was OUTDONE. I just stood hurriedly, got my kid, and left. I was too embarassed to say anything to the kid or to the teacher. I just wanted to get out of there as fast as I could. No more bending over at the daycare, one of those kids is "fast fingers freddy"!!!

Another Weekend Gone

Do you ever get your "case of the Mondays" on Sunday night? Try as I might, I always end up feeling terrible Sunday night because I have to go back to work. My niece told me that people who hate going to work need to find a job they like. My reply was that there was no job in the world that I would like enough to want to go to every day. Sounds lazy, I know. But that whole "what would you do if you didn't have to work for money" takes me back to my line from Office Space. I wouldn't do NOTHING!!!! Some say, "oh, you'll get bored". NO, I WON'T. I can find plenty to do that does not require working for someone else. Anyway, I just have to tell myself, my favorite line from The Great Debaters. "You have to do what you HAVE to do, to be able to do what you WANT to do."
